Japan commended Israel and Lebanon for coming to an agreement on a draft treaty defining their shared maritime border.
The declaration was praised for increasing mutual trust between the two nations, as well as for promoting peace and stability in the area.
According to the foreign ministry, the Japanese government expressed appreciation for the preparations made by the two nations and for the US’s mediating role.
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that Japan will continue to work for peace and stability in the region and hoped for “constructive engagement of the parties concerned toward its finalization and implementation.”
