Portugal’s national team’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to train with Manchester United’s U-21 team on Friday morning following his refusal to come on in a win over Tottenham.
Ronaldo arrived at 8.30 and participated in the youth team’s morning practice before the 2-0 victory over Tottenham, which Sportsmail exclusively disclosed he refused to enter as a substitute.
Ronaldo was fired and demoted from the first team due to his defiance, and he will not participate in this weekend’s match against Chelsea. He will instead have to spend time with the U21s.
Ronaldo moped his way down the tunnel at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in amazing sights before the game had concluded.
He gathered his luggage from the locker room in the 89th minute and left Old Trafford before the final horn.
Ten Hag and United were forced to take action as a result of the public nature of his departure.
Their already precarious working relationship has come under severe scrutiny as a result of the incident, and Ronaldo’s future has been further called into question. His first team exile will start on Friday while the rest of Ten Hag’s team gets ready to play Chelsea.
It is believed that the athlete has displayed overt contempt for Ten Hag and his coaching staff, going so far as to deliberately ignore one senior staff member.
